Mehrnoush Esfandiari, a mother of two children, was killed on Thursday, January 7, 2026, by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic. Government agents shot Mehrnoush Esfandiari in the back with live ammunition in the 'Afsarieh' district of Tehran. Islamic Republic agents demanded 200 million Tomans from her family for the return of Mehrnoush Esfandiari's body.
