Sara Boroomand

Sara Boroumand, 28 years old, was killed on Friday, January 8, 2026, during the Shiraz protests. She was fatally shot by a Special Forces motorcycle officer using a shotgun. Sara was returning home from a clinic with her mother when the officer pursued her. In front of the 'Kolbeh' bus station in Shiraz, from a distance of less than five meters, he targeted Sara's head and throat from the right side with the shotgun. Sara succumbed to her injuries in her mother's arms. Sara was a mother to a three-and-a-half-year-old son, whose custody is with his father. She had two semesters remaining to complete her law degree. She was also an artist, sewing sofa covers and working as a hair braider.
