Hamed Shafiei

According to a report by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, January 9, 2026, Hamed Shafiei, a Talesh citizen from Masal and resident of Chalus, was severely injured during public protests in front of the Chalus police station, by direct fire from government forces and being shot in the abdomen. He died after being transferred to the hospital during surgery. Hamed Shafiei was the father of an 8-year-old child and a businessman in Chalus, and had a souvenir shop in the Sardabrood area of the city. According to received information, this citizen was shot while trying to help one of the injured people present at the scene. Hamed Shafiei's body was handed over to his family on January 10, 2026, and he was buried in his hometown of Masal.
